Lately, I’ve seen so many fantastic posts around the blogosphere featuring lists of inspiring things, that I’ve been dying to create one of my own! I’m hoping to bring you these fun lists of items I’m coveting, enjoying, loving or simply ogling every week, and I also hope it’ll make you want to share things that are keeping you inspired in the comments below. Don’t be a stranger!
{Black Bedrooms}
What is it about the black walled bedroom? Sexy at night, but fresh in the light of day (it must be the high contrast!), I’m loving the idea of a black accent wall in the bedroom. Too bad my landlords would evict me if they found out I ever did such a thing (I guess we can’t all be so design minded. When we first moved in, our living room was painted lime green, and garnished with maroon crushed velvet curtains. I found out later it was the work of our landlady! Blech.). What’s most fantastic is that the wall provides such an awesome backdrop for whatever you want, whether it’s a colorful upholstered headboard, or a beautiful sunburst mirror.
{Edison inspired lighting}
I’ve seen this Pottery Barn Edison chandelier in a few different spaces now, and I just love it. It’s so versatile, and can blend well with so many styles. Recently, Design*Sponge featured a great post on a DIY version of this Edison/filament type lighting. I think it would look great as an installation, each string and bulb threaded through drilled holes in a piece of reclaimed wood, hanging over a long farmhouse-style table!
No question — I 100% could not pull off the Panama hat look — but I think it’s fantastic!
{Real Housewives of New York City}
Go ahead. Laugh. I don’t care. This season of RHONY is completely OOC. I find myself getting giddy on Thursdays, and reading the cast blogs late night. Is Kelly really crazy? Will Bethenny and Jill ever make up? Will Luann land a Grammy with her new single? These are the types of questions that keep me occupied on Fridays. (Answers: Yes, No, Hell No).
{Cherries}
The cherry season is off to an early start! I’ve already picked up a couple pounds of tart-sweet Bing cherries. They’re the perfect dessert every night!
Oh, um, I may have neglected to tell you that I recently became the proud new owner of an iMac. And y’all, I see what everyone has been saying. It’s kind of amazing. The screen is so big I don’t even know what to do with myself. It’s fun to use. And it just WORKS! When I pulled it out of the box and turned it on, there was a happy little welcome song, and then it ushered me right to the desktop. The lack of start-up software registration and all those other annoying pop-ups you expect with a PC was almost disconcerting. If you’ve been thinking about making the switch, I can’t recommend it enough. What have I been doing all these years???
{Seed Bombs}
So, our new house has this backyard that is woefully overgrown with weeds. The sad thing is, I did a bit of weeding a while back, and I could tell that previous tenants probably did an awesome job keeping the garden beautiful. There is a struggling callalily plant, a HUGE rose bush (which produces big, fragrant shell pink blooms I’ve been cutting and arranging next to my bed), and the random sunflower or two — all signs that it was once a thriving place. While I haven’t committed to re-habilitating the entire thing, I did completely weed and redo one tiny plot. In it, I planted these seed bombs from Anthropologie, along with a bunch of other wildflower seeds. The plants are thriving, and I’m expecting blooms any day now! Learn more about the seed bombs sold at Anthro over at VisuaLingual.
{Summer}
Because here in San Francisco, it was in the low 60s and raining today. Our summer weather isn’t due for a few more months (read: October — just in time for all the fall fashions to take over the stores!). With Memorial Day weekend upon us, I wouldn’t mind weather that was a little more June, a little less January.
{Los Angeles}
We’ll be parading around our old stomping grounds this weekend. I can hardly wait to see friends, relish in the warm weather, and most of all, make a visit to…
