Packing for a weekend getaway

Joe and I are headed to LA this weekend to reconnect with an old friend and her hubby. It’s a double-date weekend of sorts. Beach hikes, barbecue and lots and lots of wine — it’s sure to be a fun time! Though all over California this week the weather was scorching, over the weekend the weather will turn cool, even down south, which is making me re-evaluate what to bring.

For the warm days and semi-cool nights in the City of Angels, my perfectly packed suitcase would have floral sundresses, a canvas jacket and fun sandals — it’s probably one of the last chances to break them out this year.

(Click on the image above to see where all these items are from!)

Lately I’ve been loving the mix of masculine and feminine elements. The pairing of floral, flirty dresses and a more rugged canvas or military jacket is a fantastic example. It’s a look that can easily carry into fall as well — with the right dress, a pair of tights, and a little jacket, you’re ready to go!

How about you? Any fun plans this weekend? Or are you saving your escapades for Labor Day?
