hello! tobe from because it’s awesome here, thrilled to be standing in for victoria while she explores one of the most charming countries in existence (or so i assume . . . sadly, i can’t brag about ever having been). when v asked me to join in with her “best of . . .” guest series, i think we both immediately knew i would be talking type. my love for typography and hand lettering started from a young age; i could often be caught boning up on my graffiti at elementary summer camp (on paper, of course), practicing my penmanship instead of taking notes in middle school, imitating warhol’s campbell soup works in high school and, most recently, dedicating at least 8 of my waking hours each day to great type as a lettering designer for a well-known greeting card corporation.
every week, i dedicate at least one day to my letterform obsession with a type tuesday column. my favorites tend to be bold black and white treatments, but i’m certainly not one to shy away from color. i think letters should be on everything! from great packaging and identity design to interesting touches for your home and clothing to (and this might be my favorite) amazing signage. be still my beating heart when i see it well-executed.

v, we hope you guys are having an amazing time! ox
About the column: Though Tobe is in the midst of a little blog break right now, one of the columns that initially led me to her was her Type Tuesday series. It should come as no shock that I’m a huge typography weirdo, so getting my weekly dose of awesome type from her blog was always a highlight for me!
