Sister Sally and I are self admitted nail polish fanatics. I know Victoria doesn’t exactly share our craziness for covering fingernails with lacquers and polishes so I thought I’d bring a little nail art whimsy to vmac & cheese! AND since V and her fiancé Joe are jetting off for a French getaway I thought why not theme it up with a French manicure inspired post? I’m cheesy and awkward like that…
I’m just going to say it – I think the classic pale pink and white French manicure is incredibly dated. Some ladies can pull it off but as a whole, the technique is a trend for the nails of yesteryear. But I will always make an acceptation for a classic (I mean, I wouldn’t turn down a Channel bag even though I say I don’t like them) – and the French manicure can still be wicked cool and undeniably eye-catching when the white tip goes out the window and is replaced with colors, glitter and fierce combinations. I see the anti-French tips and I whisper, “ohhh… soo cool…” in my head. Can you tell just by reading this how amped up I get about nail polish? Please don’t judge me.
While I have a pretty steady hand when it comes to doing my own at home mani-pedis, I’m not sure I can achieve doing my own anti-French manicure at home… But these sassy nails are making me feel bold and brave – I might have to get out my favorite polishes and some really fancy and expensive masking equipment (read: scotch tape) to try doing my own DIY nail art.
What do you think vmac readers? If you’re a corporate working girl like me I have a feeling we might be able to get away with it more easily than the party nail trend (painting one nail a different color)!
Thanks so much for having me, V! Even though I’m so (so, so) jelly you’re off enjoying all things French I’m so excited to hear all about it when you return!
About the post: What can I really say about A Piece of Toast that I haven’t said before? When I contacted Molly and Sally to write something for today’s guest post, I told them that their voices are what I love most about their blog. They can talk about virtually anything and it’s fun. If you’re not reading along yet, where you have been?
