The Full Skirt

TULLE SKIRTS

Ever since Grace paired her Manifesto tee with this amazing, full, tulle skirt, I have been on the hunt for one of my own. Let’s be honest: this isn’t exactly a look you’re going to wear into the office, but I love the idea of busting out a full, fun skirt for a night on the town. And it’s not even like you have to find a top that’s as statement making — in fact, better to keep things a little toned down on top with such a loud piece on the bottom! I’m loving these skirts paired with simple tees and sweaters (the last look is perfection, and if you can believe it, that skirt was a DIY job!).

Full, tulle skirts certainly aren’t an everyday piece, but they’re the kind of thing I would display prominently in my closet, if for no other reason than opening up the door and seeing it in all its fluffy glory would bring a smile to my face every day. And they come at every different price point too! Grace’s own skirt was super affordable (as in, seriously considering), and I’m also loving the different interpretations of this trend (like this, this, and this). What do you think? Could you rock a flirty tulle skirt? Here’s how I dreamed up two ways to wear it:

Just a few months ago, I would have never thought I’d say this, but I’m seriously considering adding a tulle skirt to my closet, either buying one, or even better, making my own! Seeing so many bloggers wear them so confidently made me realize that it doesn’t have to be saved only for the most special occasions…

I love all the versions you posted, I think the ones with the small ruffles are even more wearable for everyday, but my favourite by far is definitely this one (http://www.lilysaysgo.com/2013/01/winter-ballet.html) from the blog Lily Says Go… she’s worn it so many different ways, it’s incredible!

Hope you’re having a great week so far!

Even before I saw other bloggers wearing them, I’ve been obsessed with full tulle skirts I found this one at forever 21 http://pinksole.com/2012/10/peplum-tulle-glitter/ and a short version at hollister http://pinksole.com/2012/11/casual-in-sobe/.

I too am loving this trend (first spotted for me on Damsel in Dior)! But I am hesitant to try it out myself, maybe this will change as spring comes?

My favorite tool skirt is from Anthropologie, so check that one out :)

I love this look so much. I need to try one on though. I fear this look may not be uber flattering on my body type. Crossing my fingers because it is so, so pretty.

I have a total tutu of a skirt that I bought from Urban Outfitters 4 years ago, and will likely never give away. I wear it every holiday season and on days when I’m working from home and need a pick me up. I totally recommend getting one!

I would love one! It’s so feminine and reminds me of ballerinas and playing dress up when I was little. Anytime I find an excuse to translate that into my adult attire, I jump at it!

A full skirt of tulle definitely seems like it needs to be a must have. It is very easy to play it down, and play it up for special occasions. Anthropologie’s got this similar one on sale now – http://anthrpl.ge/14PWWrN

LOVE your ideas…… stripes & tulle and a cool-kid jean jacket over top? Yes. Yes. I think I can get behind this idea!

I was a teeensy bit skeptical of this whole tulle skirt thing at first, but I do love the way you’ve styled it. I love when someone gets me thinking about something I previously thought was impossible to wear.

I definitely dig the whimsy of it. Thanks for the inspiration!

I think I could wear this if I paired it with a basic tee like Grace did, or maybe a tougher leather jacket. Anything else and I’d feel a bit too girlie!

I am wearing a tulle skirt I bought from a local boutique for Valentines Day. My sister, BFF and I are heading out for fondue and I can’t wait to sport it with some hot pink! It’s the perfect feminine holiday to wear it without getting odd looks from small town strangers.

I love the full skirt trend. I would wear mine like the last image, with a comfy sweater and patent leather heels. That way you would be dressing it down, but still look appropriate.

so fun! I can’t imagine wearing one in my life — probably why I’ve hesitated — however think I’d totally rock in NYC or somewhere great like that. Or, like you said, just smile when I see it (which is the first thing I thought about when I saw your post!).

I love this! I am mid-project making some of my own using the cotton and curls tutorial. I also was able to snag one on group deals last week for like $20. I cannot wait until it gets here.

I hate to admit it but my 5 year niece saw it and thought I was ordering it for her! Ha, silly girl it’s for your 29 year aunt!

I don’t know if I could pull it off! I do love how you have paired it with the striped shirt though. I like the contrast of the soft creamy tulle with the sharp lines. Very pretty! Also, am I the only one that hums the Sex and the City theme song whenever I see these skirts pop up in my browser?

I love this tulle skirt look. I also saw this on GRACE – STRIPES & SEQUINS. Although I have never worn one. I’m strongly considering making the purchase and finding a reason to wear it. I think I might pair it with a sequin shirt or thin long sleeve shirt.
