I like talking about food and I really, really love to eat. Maybe even live to eat. I mean, I’m usually thinking about my next meal soon after I’ve finished my last. To me, food is the universal language, the one constant in all of our lives that can build bridges across cultures and time.
With that in mind, and after completing an undergrad degree in business administration (practical), I decided to attend culinary school (practical?). Though I soon realized I was not cut out for life on the line, I spent some time in the industry working as a food journalist, a sometimes-caterer, a recipe tester, a winemaker, a wine educator, a food stylist, and a PR flack. Now I just like to cook at home, dine out more than I should, and talk to people about food.
So that’s what this here blog is all about: my delectable encounters with food (and wine!), from recipes I’ve created, to stories, to food news, to ideas, to photos. And of course, you can’t cook for others without talking about entertaining, and if you’re going to talk about entertaining, you might as well take a look at other subjects like design, crafts, and all manner of pretty, covet-able things. Along the way, there will be also plenty of other tidbits and musings inspired by my love of all things media and by my everyday life — the adventures of a mid-20something San Franciscan.
Food. Wine. Design. Media. Life. Yup, that pretty much sums things up.
So welcome. Pull up a chair, have a glass of rosé and dive right in. The water’s just fine.
