This week I…

+ Worked on three (count ‘em THREE) client projects. Awesomesauce.
+ Guest posted at two of my faves (here and here if you missed it).
+ Tried out a new conditioner. It smells nice.
+ Had lunch with Jeanne at Zazie. A) I heart her and really, truly admire her business acumen, and B) I want to take Joe there for brunch ASAP.
+ Saw and decided on a wedding venue. I’ll share deets once it’s official and papers have been signed, but funnily enough, I’m betting A LOT of you have actually seen the space! Well… sorta. You’ll see.
+ Am working on setting up my accounting systems for Vivaleur. Funny how those mundane little tasks can make you feel so GOOD.
+ Started working out again. I won’t be able to walk for a few days, but it felt amazing.
+ Sent out invites to a St. Patrick’s Day/Spring Fling party. I can’t wait to host friends!

Link of the week: I’m curious what you guys all think about the Pinterest kerfuffle. If you haven’t heard about it, this post sums it up (and also takes a drastic though not necessarily unreasonable stance). What do you think? It is hard for me to imagine life without Pinterest now…but the legal grey areas make me a little uncomfortable. I’m a girl who tends to play by the rules, even though I like to think I don’t. Check it out and share your thoughts!  (UPDATE: Via the previous post, I found this blog post and a follow-up with input from Ben Silbermann this morning and it’s even MORE food for thought! I’m so conflicted, you guys…)

Oh and duh…have a great weekend!

2.24.12

Whoa. Thank you to every last one of you who emailed and commented on yesterday’s post. I suspected that I wasn’t alone, but I had no idea soooo many of us were in the same boat. This shiz is overwhelming and a pressure cooker. Why can’t we just talk about that? I hope that if you are also planning a wedding and it’s not what you thought it would be, those comments made you feel less alone too. I read every last one of them. A few of them made me tear up. Thank you. I’ll keep you guys posted as this bleeping saga unfolds.

This weekend, my life will hopefully be a little more zen — we’re headed off for a quick weekend getaway! Funnily enough, I’ll be going to a work event with my old job. It’s a big retreat in Monterey, and when I was given the option to work it (all I have to do is help for a few hours this afternoon) in exchange for a full weekend down there (hotel included!) how could I say no? I’ll be working alongside my co-worker turned real life friend and The Bachelor-loving partner in crime. Oh, and Joe and my friend’s boyfriend will be joining us for the weekend too.  It’s really not a bad gig, wouldn’t you agree? We’re hoping for good weather so we can spend Saturday kayaking in the bay, then enjoying beers oceanside.

LINK OF THE WEEK: I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw this round up of projects from architects Ferguson & Shamamian on Kyle’s blog Knight Moves. I mean…have you ever?? Clean, classic, neutral, elegant — right up my alley! I’m basically obsessed with the second photo of that bathroom. Hello, dream space.

Okay, and because I can’t resist, I also have to share this fantastic guide to seeing the Louvre from Lauren. She offered so many great tips, so if any of you are going to be in Paris soon, be sure to bookmark this post! She went to the Louvre one day and Versailles the next. I’m only a little jealous.

Bon weekend! Love you, mean it.

Happy Friday AND happy three day weekend!! Earlier this week, it was looking like the weekend would be pretty quiet, but now it’s shaping up to be anything but (and I love it!). Tonight, we’re headed on a double date to one of my favorite bistros in the city (if you’re ever in town and go there, you CANNOT miss their Steak Rossini. Heaven on a plate). Tomorrow, one of my best girlfriends is in town from LA, and after a leisurely brunch, we’re going to spend the afternoon (I can’t even believe I get to write this) wedding dress shopping. Cue silent screaming. And in case you’re wondering…I have a venue in mind and a date held, but I don’t want to jinx anything because we still need to tour the space and determine whether it’s definitely “our” venue. Fingers crossed.

Sunday I’m hoping to hang out with a high school friend who just moved to SF from Miami (hi, Rach). It’s kind of fun to have someone who’s known you since middle school be in the same city as you. This has not been the case for me since I left Austin circa 2002!

The best part about the weekends now is feeling like I can fully enjoy it. It’s kind of great. What are your plans for the three day weekend? Do you have Monday off?

LINK OF THE WEEK: This week’s link isn’t just a single post, but rather, a heads up to a fantastic new blog! I met Nikki at Alt last month, waiting in line at the registration table. She told me the name of her blog and it was so memorable, though I didn’t get her card, I still remembered to add it to my Reader when I got home. She writes The Salty Pineapple, and if you’re looking for DIY/craft inspiration, you’ve found your new favorite blog! Go show her some love.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Some Notes + This Weekend

My oh my what a week it’s been. To say that I was overwhelmed by all of your support after Monday’s announcement is an understatement. You guys. I can’t tell you how much your comments, emails and tweets mean to me. Truly, I am so humbled by your words of encouragement. And I feel honored too. I told Joe that the part about all of this that means the most to me is that I am inadvertently inspiring so many of you to keep chasing after your goals. I am promising you now that I will continue to do everything I can to inspire and encourage you. Let’s start with this: Don’t settle. KEEP GOING. Have faith in yourself and in your future. Okay?

Now, on to a few other notes and ramblings (including the winner of the Refinery 29 + Herringbone giveaway, and why the above photo references Friday when it’s Thursday…): (more…)

This weekend…

Today I’m also going to try switching up Friday Link Love a little bit, and instead of featuring a longer list of things to check out, I’m going to share my favorite blogger, blog post, article, whatever. Less to sift through, and you’ll know I mean business — each Friday’s link is definitely a fave!

This week, I was blown away by this DIY ‘melting heart’ tutorial from Erin. How pretty (and easy) is this? And can you believe it’s actually made out of crayons? So neat.

A little announcement that’s leading up to a big one: be sure to check back in here on Monday. I have some very exciting news to share with you! That’s right…the project I’ve been alluding to for months is about to be revealed! Get excited. I know I am.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend, and enjoy the Super Bowl!!
