Petrified!

On Sunday, we spent the late morning and afternoon hanging out in the gardens at Ma(i)sonry, a wine collective and art gallery in Yountville. I’m embarrassed to say that after passing the property many times over the years, we had never spent any time there.  The stone building, which was originally a residence and dates to 1904, was redone several years ago and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. Stately and welcoming, you kind of can’t miss it if you walk by. Sunday was the perfect introduction to Ma(i)sonry — an 80 degree day, slow crowds, a bottle of good rose, and prime seating in a corner nook of the garden, where we could be shaded by umbrellas and people watch to our heart’s content.

In our little corner of the garden, petrified wood stools served as side tables around the comfy bench seating. The tables had such beautiful patterns and markings in them — kind of like one would expect with marble. I snapped a few pics and came home daydreaming about how I could work a petrified wood side table into our house. Like this: (more…)

Weekend in LA

Headed back to SF this afternoon after a very fun-filled weekend in Southern California. If only all weekends could be 4-day weekends!

Hope your Monday is off to a great start, friends!

Leaving on a jet plane

Harbour View Hills home, California

I stumbled upon the most amazing blog find yesterday (literally — I found it through StumbleUpon!). It was perfect timing, because as I’ve mentioned before, this time of year I always get such an itch to take a vacation. I think it’s because you spend so many years getting spring break when you’re in school, that come mid-March, it’s like your brain is wired to expect it. Yes, even after being out of college for years!

Anyway, the blog Adelto will do either one of two things: sate your craving for a getaway, or make you pine for one even more (I’m actually going to lay odds on the latter). Whatever your preference is in a dream getaway, this blog has probably featured it. It posts gorgeous images of properties from all over the world — vacation and regular homes a like. Most if not all the vacation getaways will cost you a pretty penny, but daydreaming about visiting them is free. So dream on!

Where would you want to go? Here were some potential destinations I picked out: (more…)

California Girl

Non-photoshopped pics. Monterey really is just that gorgeous.

I had one of the best weekends in recent memory!! Saturday specifically — my friends and I started the day with a huge brunch, a visit to a local Monarch butterfly sanctuary (sounds random, but trust, this was seriously cool), then a tour down 17 Mile Drive through Pebble Beach. How have I lived in California for almost 10 years and never done this?? It was spectacularly beautiful. We capped off the afternoon enjoying Bloody Marys next to a fire pit at the Inn at Spanish Bay, with perfect views of the ocean. Amazing.

And now, it’s back to work…although if I’m perfectly honest, I dread Mondays a lot less these days!

Did you do anything fun this weekend?

Take Me Away: Mio Buenos Aires

Hello, gorgeous. I spotted this bathtub on the Tumblr Trendy Traveler yesterday, and was immediately curious to learn more. After a bit of hunting, I tracked down the source — the stunning Mio hotel in Buenos Aires. Brace yourself and hide your passport. You’re going to want to jet down to Argentina on the double.

Get more Mio (and find out how those amazing bathtubs are made from whole tree trunks) right after the jump.
